Part of Science Days of TU-Sofia
September 7-11, 2026 · Sozopol, Bulgaria · Hybrid (on-site & online)

The XXXVI Symposium "MMA 2026" provides insights to the latest achievements in metrology and metrology assurance.

History

The Scientific Symposium “Metrology” with international participation was first held in September 1990 in Sozopol, at the holiday house of the Technical University of Sofia. The Symposium was initiated by Prof. Vasil D. Filev and the “Metrology” laboratory at the Department of Electrical Measurements (Faculty of Automation).

Key Milestones

  • 1990: First Symposium held in Sozopol; initial focus on metrology and metrological assurance of measurements of electrical quantities.
  • 1993: Scope expanded to include geometrical and mechanical measurements with the involvement of Prof. D.Sc. Hristo K. Radev and the “Coordinate Measurements in Mechanical Engineering” laboratory.
  • 2000s: Quality requirements increased; papers (from 2000 onward) undergo review by the International Programme Committee.
  • Since 2017: Official name is International Scientific Symposium “Metrology and Metrology Assurance”.

Symposium Name Over the Years

Period Name
1990–1994 National Scientific Symposium with International Participation: “Metrology”
